Eastern Naveta of Biniac
Did you know that at Lloc de Menorca an authentic Talayotic naveta, known as the Eastern Naveta of Biniac, is preserved?! It is a funerary naveta where collective burials took place between the early Bronze Age and the end of the Bronze Age (1400-1000 BC).
The Eastern Naveta of Biniac has a circular plan, with a sloping exterior, built with roughly hewn blocks placed horizontally. The door opens to the south of the monument. At an unknown time (recently, according to Hernández Mora, 1924) a dry stone wall was added to the southern area, covering and concealing the southern face.
A long corridor provides access to the oval chamber, built with an irregular wall with an approximation of courses and covered with horizontal slabs.
Its dimensions are: exterior length 11.10 m; exterior width 10.70 m; interior length 3.90 m; interior width 2.30 m.
The naveta presents a structure halfway between megalithic tombs and elongated navetas of more advanced chronologies.
